If an Iowa worker is in violation of a work rule and sustains an injury, would he/she still be eligible for Iowa Workers' Compensation benefits?

There is a possibility that the Iowa worker can still receive Iowa Workers' Comp benefits.  However, the employer and Work Comp insurance company with try to rely on this defense to avoid paying Workers' Compensation benefits to the injured Iowa employee.  The employer and insurance company will need to prove the following to support their case against paying out benefits to the injured worker:  the violated work rule was established before the injury occurred; the injured worker was informed of the work rule; workers were disciplined for violating this rule prior to the work injury; and the violation of the work rule was the cause of the injury to the Iowa worker.
