What does the term "vocational rehabilitation" refer to?

In the area of Iowa Workers' Compensation the term "rehabilitation" refers to two things: 1) physical rehabilitation usually through physical therapy; and 2) vocational rehabilitation through job training.  Workers who have sustained a work-related injury, and as a result can no longer do their previous job are entitled to vocational rehabilitation as part of their Iowa Workers' Compensation benefits.  Some of these services may include the following:

Education/tuition payments for retraining

Skills analysis and training

Vocational rehabilitation counseling

Assistance searching for a new job

Medical case management

Assistance with accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
