What happens if my Iowa Workers' Comp claim is disputed?

Many disputes are resolved through open communication between the employee, employer, and insurance company.  The Iowa employee should be able to fully understand why any action is taken. Nevertheless, if the dispute remains unresolved, a contested-case proceeding may follow.  It is often recommended that you acquire legal representation when filing a contested-case proceeding, however, it is not required.  A large number of cases are settled before going to trial in a formal Iowa Workers' Compensation hearing.
